Technical Questions

What are bleed allowances?

– Bleed allowances are areas that extend beyond the trim line of the printed material, typically ranging from 2 mm to 5 mm. These allowances are added to the layout to account for any potential shifts during cutting. This ensures that after trimming, the printed image or background reaches the very edge without any white margins.

How can I check if my design is suitable for printing?

– We can provide guidelines for preparing your file for printing, or you can send us your file, and we will give you feedback.

Will the print colors match what I see on my monitor?

– Perfect color matching is not possible and depends on several factors. First, printers calibrate their monitors with specialized equipment, while your monitor may be set differently. Second, if the file is prepared in an RGB color profile, the colors may differ because printing uses the CMYK color profile. Therefore, we recommend making proof prints.

What resolution should a file have for printing? How many dpi should the project have?

– For high-quality printing, a resolution of 300 dpi (dots per inch) is required.

What should I do if the layout is prepared in RGB?

– You can either convert the file to CMYK yourself using graphic software or send it to us, and we will handle the conversion and then send it back to you for approval.

What are pixels?

– All images are made up of tiny solid color dots called pixels. For high-quality printing, a high resolution is necessary, meaning a large number of pixels per inch (dpi). If the resolution is low, the printed image will appear blurry and unclear.

What is digital printing and how does it differ from offset printing?

– The main difference between digital and offset printing is that digital printing allows each page to have a different image. Digital printing is suitable for small runs and quick turnaround times. Offset printing, on the other hand, is used for large quantities, typically starting from 500-1000 copies (depending on the type of product), and allows for a lower cost per copy.
